THROWBACK THURSDAY – John Elway

In the 1990’s my main focus was sports art, creating images of professional athletes to be use on promotional items, product packaging and sports memorabilia for fans and collectors. In those days I was still painting by hand on illustration board with my iwata airbrush, pencils, colored chalk and acrylic paints. To capture the likeness of the player I was provided action and close ups photos and the rest was up to my imagination. This painting of hall of fame Denver Bronco QB John Elway was one of three paintings commissioned by Nabisco Corp. for their “Gift with Purchase” promotion.
